My first time in an Xterra wetsuit was about four years after my first triathlon.  I was at the Challenged Athlete Foundation's San Diego Triathon Challenge expo prior to the event.  I tried a sleevless Xterra first, I was struck by the flexibility and comfort.  This was definitely a superior  wetsuit!   I have not looked back and use an Xterra Speedsuit for warmish water, Xterra Vector Pro Fullsuit for cold water and Xterra Sleevless Vortex for water temps above 62 degrees (or so).  For outrigger and stand up paddling the Lava Flow pants are perfect, not too hot and warm enough to stay very comfortable.

TRAINING

So, training.... I have followed so many over the years.. for Marathons, triathlons, all distances.  Swim meets and open water swims.  I basically do some kind of exercise everyday.  I have done this for many, many years.  Growing up in a Southern California beach town, Manhattan Beach, I learned about an active life style early on.  Some days are more intense than others, but the basic training plan now is this:

Lift weights 3 or 4 times per week - usually a 30 minute routine.
Swim in a pool or open water 3 or 4 times per week.

Workout on an indoor bike (Computrainer) 3-4 times per week

Run, Hike, or use eliptical trainer 3 times per week

Outrigger and/or SUP  - 1 or 2 times per week.

And what would training and racing be without a few injuries???

1974 - First bike wreck that sent me to the hospital for ten days - cracked pelvis and broken collar bone.

1996 - Second bike wreck.  Four days in the hospital and a surgery to reconstruct my shattered right humerus

2003 - Fell on the Dipsea run at "Suicide Hill" - broken wrist, required surgery.

2005 - Third bike wreck -- hit a pot hole instead of a car.. cracked hip.

Stories of rehab later.....
